365, awaken

I have totally been slacking on this whole blog thing. The truth is, many of my friends have set theirs up and kept it consistent...so that was enough to light a fire under my bum to get with it. The past month has been full of ups and downs for us ladies, but mostly ups I would have to say.

No one ever said that this was going to be easy..and although some days are excruciating, others are downright lovely. Road tripping across San Diego is always a blast, whether we're going to visit friends out in BFE, or exploring balboa (I should say attempting to...more about that later), the drive is always so scenic and beautiful..it makes you exceedingly appreciative of what you have, and where we have the privilege to call home.

Since I have not been able to write a blog a day, I am going to give you a recap from the last day of the year up until today. On the 31st, my friend Courtney and I decided to go to the Historical Museum in Balboa..or so we though :-/ Little did we know that "catching up conversations" + my distracted driving = us missing our exit and turning around not once, not twice, not thrice, but 4 times. Oy. At that point Courtney said "get off at the next exit!" "But that's old town...," I replied.  She looked at me and said "Yah, the museum isn't happening today. We're going to go have a margarita in Old Town." And for those of you who know me, who am I to turn down a Margarita? So we did, and ended up spending the day shopping for little knicknaks along the way. I picked up a killer gift for my husband but...I won't tell what it is :) After a perfect "would-have-been-double-date" with Court, we headed back home to unwind and get ready for our new year bash at Ashleys. After I got some tidying done at my apartment, I headed over to Courtneys and then to Albertson's where we picked up champagne and some snackies. Man, were we ready for this! As we drove over to Lakeside where the Langtry's live, we reminisced about our husbands and shared stories and then belted out to my awesome itunes mix :)
Once we arrived at Ashleys, we met some other gals and had a blast. We drank a lot of champagne and did a few shots to catch up with Stephanie (who by the way was taking shots WITH us, so the catching up part made no sense at all...luckily we were bottles deep in champagne and too tipsy to care). In the morning we were awaken by her adorable munchkin, Carter and shortly after joined by his baby sister Ellie. That girl was enamored by my fugg boots. It was the cutest thing! We drank coffee and headed back home. I'd say all in all, new years = SUCCESS
